Bead-Saving Bracelet This is for people who have made a beaded bracelet that needed more beads than you can string on in 24 hours or make it so that you can’t see your yarn at all. Materials: · 1 or 2 ply sock yarn/crochet thread · The amount of beads you get when you follow the bead amount directions (I like to add about 20 extra just in case) · Size 3 knitting needles (gauge is not important to determine your needle size) · Scissors · Bead-threading needle Directions: Thread your beads onto your yarn with the needle before you begin knitting. Cast on 10 stitches. Rows 1-4: Knit Row 5: Knit 5 stitches, slip 3 beads, and being sure you knit your next stitch so that the three beads are in between your fifth stitch and your sixth stitch, knit the next five stitches. Rows 6-9: Knit Row 10: [PURL one stitch, slip one bead], repeat bracketed instructions until one stitch is left, and purl this stitch without slipping a bead. Repeat these 10 rows until either your beads are used up or your bracelet fits around your wrist. Bind off. Seam together the cast on and bind off edges. Weave in ends. Bead Amount Directions: Divide your number of rows per inch you knit on your size three needles by 10. Now, measure your wrist with a tape measure and multiply that number (inches) by your previous number. Then, multiply the number you just got by 12 (the number of beads you’ll use in each pattern repeat). That’s how many beads you’ll need.
